Eric Trudeau · Learning experience design & strategy
I make complex learning feel clear, useful, and worth engaging with.
I'm a learning experience designer and creative leader who works across strategy, content, interaction design, and delivery. I've partnered with enterprise teams to turn complex, changing information into practical learning, and I've led the design of certification programs and the systems that support them. I enjoy the part before production as much as the build itself: working with stakeholders to understand the performance need and choosing an approach people can actually use.
What I bring
I think beyond the course.
A request for training is a starting point, not a diagnosis. I work with stakeholders to understand the performance need, decide what people actually need to learn or do, and design an experience that helps them get there.
Performance-first learning strategy.
I help teams turn broad training requests into focused objectives and usable solutions. In one enterprise sales project, a lengthy instructor-led presentation was serving two very different audiences; separating onboarding from ongoing performance support changed the whole design.
Learning that asks people to do something.
I design and build self-paced, virtual, instructor-supported, and interactive learning. The goal isn't another deck of information. It's an experience where people practice a decision, recognize a pattern, or leave knowing what to do next.
Collaborative creative leadership.
I work closely with subject matter experts, program leads, and creative partners, asking the questions that uncover what really matters. I've also written the standards and built the reusable systems that let a team produce consistent work without depending on one designer.
Technology with a purpose.
I can work in the authoring tool, the LMS, the design file, or the code. From Captivate interactions and Articulate courses to HTML and CSS customizations and AI-assisted workflows, I choose technology that makes learning clearer and development more sustainable.
Selected work
A few ways I've put that thinking to work.
Different audiences, different constraints, and different kinds of learning. The common thread is a focus on what people need to accomplish and how the experience can help.
Creating coherence across complex certification programs.
A multi-program education organization had to deliver substantial certification content across different instructors, formats, and learner journeys. The challenge was not producing lessons. It was making the whole program predictable, navigable, and maintainable.
Read the storyDesigning around what learners and administrators actually need.
An off-the-shelf LMS could deliver courses, but important parts of the learner and administrative experience lived outside what it could do. Rather than rebuild the platform, I looked for the targeted changes that would remove the friction.
Read the storyMaking good design repeatable across a team.
A mature education brand had accumulated inconsistent design decisions across courses, campaigns, and digital experiences. The problem was consistency at scale, not one more polished asset.
Read the storyHow I work
Understand the need. Make the right thing. Keep improving it.
I start by getting clear about the audience, the context, and the change the work is meant to support. Then I choose the format, build and refine the experience, and use what I learn from stakeholders and learners to make it better. I value clarity over complexity and thoughtful interaction over decoration.
Who is this for, what are they trying to do, and what has to change. The objective comes before the format.
Choose the format that fits, then design and build it with the people who will use it in mind.
Listen to stakeholders and learners, look at what happened, and refine.
Tools & capabilities
Comfortable in the details and the bigger picture.
My work moves between learning strategy, content and curriculum, design, multimedia, and the platforms that deliver the experience. I use the tools that fit the task and enjoy learning new ones when the work calls for it.
Learning design & development
Performance consulting, learning objectives and curriculum architecture, ADDIE and SAM, scenario-based learning, microlearning, self-paced, blended, and virtual instructor-led design, facilitator and participant materials, assessment and feedback design.
Tools: Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline and Rise 360.
Visual design & multimedia
Creative direction, brand and design systems, interface design, video and motion for learning.
Tools: Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Media Encoder, Camtasia, Keynote.
Learning platforms & delivery
Platform selection and implementation, branded LMS experiences, SCORM packaging, enrollment and attendance automation.
Tools: Docebo, Thinkific, Workday LMS, Vimeo, Zoom, HubSpot, Zapier, Google Workspace.
Web, code & AI
Custom interactions inside courses, integrations between learning systems, and small web applications. AI used as an assistant for research, drafting, images, and development, with editorial and instructional judgment kept with the designer.
Tools: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Next.js and Vercel, Google Apps Script, Claude and ChatGPT, fal.ai image generation.
Standards & accreditation
Certification programs each designed to the requirements of its relevant body (ICF, NBHWC, or Yoga Alliance); an online school taken through Ohio state licensing, with the records and audit reporting the state asks for.
If you're building learning that has to work, I'd like to talk.
I enjoy work that brings people, ideas, and technology together, and the part where we figure out what the real problem is.
